I've been a fan of Office for years, but I really had second thoughts after I spent my good money on Office 7 and found that I had to learn a completely new user interface. That's, I suppose, now why I'm going with OpenOffice. It is obvious that they are NOT listening to what we users want. how could they have ignored the thousands of folks who have made this an issue and not provided the needed function. The continuation of this problem past Vista is just F. How could anyone have thought that MS would have just ignored this (probably trivial) code change/enhancement/thingie for this long of time. I haven't either, and I've really searched for the option. After the time that Windows 7 betas and RC's have been out now, it is now clear that the entire user community has not figured out how to set this windows explorer detail option by default. After all, complaints about this particular usability issue have been pasted all of the internet (both inside and outside of MS' stuff) ever since Windows came out having the "Size All Columns To Fit" option. Since MS never addressed the mising function in Vista, I assumed that it was too big a change for Vista (even for an outsider to create a "patch" or someone to find a register modification), but that good old MS would come through for us in Windows 7. The inability to have the "details" windows explorer view default to "Size All Columns To Fit" was an enormous oversight and usability problem for any of us that like to use this detailed windows explorer view. What adds punch to Passkey Lite is it can work with all the software that Passkey for DVD and Passkey for Blu-ray works with. As a result, you can't copy those still protected DVDs, but you are able to freely watch them. It doesn't support CPRM for DVD, and PathPlayer is not enabled, so ARccOS, RipGuard, FluxDVD, and CORE X2 can't be removed. For example, it can't remove AACS V12+, BD+, BDAV, and AVCREC for Blu-ray, so you are not allowed to watch movies with those protections. It can still decrypt protected DVD and Blu-ray, but not for all of them. Passkey Lite is a free and a simple two-in-one version of Passkey for DVD and Passkey for Blu-ray, and supports part of the functions they have. The reading speed is very fast, all decryption work can be done within seconds. Almost everything is finished automatically, you don't even need to do any clicking. Passkey for DVD is really easy to operate. Not enough! Besides the "freely enjoy any DVD" feature, it can also work with numerous software to let you access the unprotected DVD content then copy, burn, clone, rip, convert them or do any editing you wish. You will be impressed!ĭVDFab Passkey for DVD is a great DVD decrypter, which can remove all the DVD protections on the go and let you get rid of region code troubles to help you freely watch any DVD without any limit and without any wait. You can finish all the process intuitively, even no need to click or tap when it's running. If you are not content with just watching them, then you can use other compatible software to edit them, such as copy, clone, burning, etc.Īnd, it's the most easy-to-use software you've ever met in fact. With its fast reading process and strong decrypting ability, you can watch your protected Blu-ray in no time. Any copy protections and region code are in no mean any barriers in front of it. DVDFab Passkey for Blu-ray is powerful in decryption. Google Trends service, for instance, shows us that docx is being googled way more often than odt. Moreover, the majority of organizations has closed document circulation, so we’ll never know anything about their documentation. No scientific survey was conveyed to proved that OOXML is more widely used than ODF. The old files still exist in binary formats, but OOXML is catching up quickly. But putting aside the moral aspects of their monopolistic approach, we have to say they were brilliant and also put much time and effort in their document editors.Įven with such alternatives as OpenOffice (back then) and LibreOffice (now), Microsoft Office stays the most popular office suite in the world and the majority of office docs ever created was saved in Microsoft formats. Note that the word ‘open’ here did not mean being open source because the formats were protected by Microsoft patents. In 2007 Microsoft launched a new version of their Office that by default saved documents in the newly created OOXML (Office Open XML) formats – docx, xlsx, pptx. Even Microsoft tech guys saw that and took the idea. The abbreviation stands for Open Document formats, and the word ‘open’ here reveals their open source nature and that they could be used without restrictions. Luckily, the Jedi knights from open source community created an alternative – new XML-based formats called ODF. They were strictly closed so that Microsoft could maintain a monopoly. Once all of the office formats were binary. Here’s a quick primer on office software history. This is basically the same approach Rust and Go use with panic(), and in both languages this facility by default causes the runtime to unwind the stack, as with C++ exceptions. One thing I think most people largely misunderstood is exceptions they're actually totally fine if used in _exceptional_ circumstances, as if they were some kind of softer assertion, when you expect some kind of contract to be always true, but calling abort is just too unreasonable. Almost every single C project I've seen (including some of mine, I've to admit) end up involuntarily reimplementing some basic algorithm or container, and most often than not it ends up being less efficient, or unnecessarily using the heap. It doesn't hurt that the STL is extremely optimized, and often provides you tools that accomplish what you cared about without lots of the gotchas and pitfalls you're almost certainly doomed to fall for if you're not aware of their existence. It can even be faster than C in the hands of a skilled developer that knows where and how use the right features. This is somewhat exaggerated, especially because while there are several poorly designed areas in C++ and the STL, it's not all that bad and it can lead to safer, less fragile code than the C equivalent with less effort (but arguably, more skill is required in order to learn and proficiently use C++). Įdit Correction: It's called Clean C not Clean C++ I believe this is still supported, but is officially deprecated, for what that's worth. > Don't use C++ runtime wrapper for C runtime includes (,, etc.), use C runtime instead (,, etc.) I believe that if you enable RTTI you pay for it even if you don't use it, which is why it's banned in the LLVM codebase. > Exception handling is the only C++ language feature which requires significant support from a complex runtime system, and it's the only C++ feature that has a runtime cost even if you don't use it There's a vaguely similar effort with a similarly poor choice of name, Clean C, which is guaranteed to compile as both C and C++ with the same behaviour (provided there's no undefined behaviour or platform-specific behaviour). From Google Drive, locate and select the New button, then select File upload. If you're using the Google Chrome web browser, you can even upload entire folders. It's easy to upload files from your computer to Google Drive. Right now, if you want me to see the contents of files in your Google Drive folders. But this isnt how Drive is working at the moment, according to testing I just did in Chrome. Remember, you always have the option to store your files in their original file format if you'd prefer not to edit files online. Arguably this is a silly distinction: if you want 'anyone with the link' to see the folder, then surely youre implying that youve given them the file links, too. You should always review a file that's been converted before sharing it with others. Depending on the level of formatting used in the original document, the converted document could turn out looking quite different, as shown in the example below.Ĭonversion changes aren't always just cosmetic-you may even lose information from the original file. Unfortunately, this conversion isn't always perfect. Only certain file types-like Microsoft Office files and PDF documents-can be converted to Google Drive formats. Converting allows you to edit a file and collaborate with others easily. If you are uploading files you plan to edit online, you will need to convert them to Google Drive format. For example, you can use Google Drive to preview a Photoshop file, even if Photoshop is not installed on your current computer. You can also preview many different file types, even if you don't have the software required for that file on your computer. And because the files on Google Drive are synced across your devices, you'll always see the most recent version of a file. Once you upload a file-no matter what type of file it is-you'll be able to manage, organize, share, and access it from anywhere.
Knowing sign language will enable you to meet and interact with a whole new group of people. My day job is being a full-time tenured ASL Instructor at California State University (Sacramento). I'm Deaf/hh, my wife is d/Deaf, I hold a doctorate in Deaf Education / Deaf Studies. I've been teaching American Sign Language for over 20 years and I am passionate about it. Signing is a useful skill that can open up for you a new world of relationships and understanding. I'm glad you are here! You can learn ASL! You've picked a great topic to be studying. Students shouldn't have to pay outrageous amounts of money just to learn sign language. This cartoon (adapted with permission from the artist) sums up my philosophy regarding curriculum. Another very real and important part of the Lifeprint ASL curriculum project is that of being able to use the "magic" of the internet to provide a high quality sign language curriculum to those who need it the most but are often least able to afford it. Thus, going through the lessons sequentially starting with lesson 1 allows you to reach communicative competence in sign language very quickly-and it is based on second language acquisition research (mixed with a couple decades of real world ASL teaching experience). Then I took the concepts that appeared the most frequently and translated those concepts into their equivalent ASL counterparts and included them in the lessons moving from most frequently used to less frequently used. I compiled lists of concepts from concordance research based on a language database (corpus) of hundreds of thousands of language samples. The main series of lessons in the ASL University Curriculum are based on research I did into what are the most common concepts used in everyday communication. If you actually have time to read this email can you answer a question. We need a bigger list of signs, would you recommend me going through the lessons or are you working on a "more signs" page of maybe 100 to 200 of the most commonly used signs?.
